OTTAWA FEISANNA
The Sue Fay Healy School of Irish Dance is thrilled to be able to offer two feisanna (or Irish dance competitions) in Ottawa each year. We welcome hundreds of Irish dancers and their families from the Eastern Canadian Region and beyond twice a year, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent and hard work, and to make friends from around the Irish Dance Community.
Our Spring feis, the Capital Feis, takes place every year on the Sunday of the Victoria Day long weekend in May. Aside from during the pandemic, this feis has been running annually since 1992! It's a great time to celebrate Spring and showcase our beautiful city and the Tulip Festival.
Our second feis, the Feile Nollaig, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024, and takes place at the end of the year in November or December each year and is a wonderful way to get into the spirit of the Holidays. This Christmas themed feis is a big hit with the dancers and usually is visited by the jolly old man himself!
We also have an exclusive SFH School Feis just for our dancers in early March that gives them the chance to showcase their hard work and celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Irish culture. The SFH feis also features our Show Groups and Prelim and Open Championship dancers.
COMMUNITY PARTNERS
What does it take to put on a successful Feis? In short, it takes a village!
To provide an opportunity to compete to dancers from around our region and beyond, we rely on the support and sponsorship we receive from our dance families, local businesses and other partners in our community. All funds that we collect help pay for costs associated with the venue, adjudicators, awards, signage and all of the little details that make a feis run smoothly. We would like to acknowledge our Platinum and Golden Sponsors who have been steadfast in their support for our Irish Dance community. Please click on their logos below and show them some love! If you are interested in becoming a Community Partner through sponsorship, please contact us.
