![]() Dancers from the Sue Fay Healy school of traditional Irish dance, painted the capital "green" during Irish week in Ottawa, from March 10 th to the 17th. As Ottawa city hall flew the national flag of Ireland for 7 days, those Irish and of Irish descent, sang, danced and raised a glass to the Emerald Isle. It was a busy week for the up to 35 dancers ages 6-21 , as they stepped their way into the hearts of spectators all over the city. With 7 performances that varied from the post parade party at landsdowne park, to St Patrick's Basilica on St. Patrick's day, to a dinner and ceili evening at the Legion in Kanata, the dancers thrilled on-lookers with their spectacular show pieces. The students of Sue and Jennifer Healy, enjoyed the true spirit of Irish dance, performing with joy and precision. Seniors at five area retirement homes were also treated to the uplifting music, talented dancing and amazing costumes as the show groups performed at each residence- A delightful week for the dancers and onlookers alike. A big thank you to Sue and Jenn for preparing the Tralee, Galway and Dublin show groups, and for all of the event coordinators who invited the dancers to participate in their events. Their hospitality will never be forgotten! Tara Marcoux-Tynski Comments are closed.
